Coastside Community Orchestra Fall Concert
Mark your calendars (and PLEASE SHARE) for our 43nd season opener! We are excited to return to the Community United Methodist Church in HMB for this concert, which will feature Josef Rheinberger's Organ Concerto #2 performed on CUMC's beautiful digital organ. Certainly, he could not have envisioned such an instrument when he composed this lovely piece in 1894, but we think he would have been pleased by it's amazing sound!
We will also present Brahms' Symphony #1, loved by both musicians and audiences. This work is filled with stunning melodies and great emotion, and has often been compared to Beethoven's Symphony #9. However, Brahms was well-known for being his own worst critic. He was unimpressed with his own work, and scoffed at this comparison to Beethoven. By Brahms' accounts, it took nearly 20 years to "finish" his Symphony #1 to his satisfaction.
