Circle of Nations 2025 Honolulu Intertribal Experience

Circle of Nations: 2025 Honolulu Intertribal Experience Date: Sunday, September 21, 2025 Location: Waikīkī Shell Amphitheater, Honolulu, Hawaiʻi Experience the Heartbeat of the Nations On Sunday, September 21, 2025, the Circle of Nations: Honolulu Intertribal Experience will bring together Indigenous peoples from across Hawaiʻi, Turtle Island, Oceania, and beyond for a celebration of culture, resilience, and unity. Set against the majestic backdrop of Lēʻahi (Diamond Head) at the world-famous Waikīkī Shell Amphitheater, this gathering is where traditions live, stories are shared, and the drumbeat calls us all into the circle. This is not just an event—it’s a living cultural experience. From the stirring Grand Entry to the vibrant colors of regalia, from the deep resonance of powwow drums to the graceful beauty of Hawaiian hula, you will witness and participate in the enduring power of Indigenous heritage. A Day of Awe and Inspiration ✨ Opening & Grand Entry: Gates open at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Water Ceremony at 9:00 a.m., honoring the life-giving force that unites all peoples. At 10:00 a.m., the Grand Entry fills the amphitheater as dancers, veterans, elders, and cultural leaders enter the arena in a breathtaking procession. ✨ Powwow & Dance Exhibitions: Intertribal, traditional, and exhibition dances bring the arena to life, guided by the heartbeat of the drum. Each step and song shares stories of survival, joy, and community. ✨ Native Hawaiian Cultural Exchange: Experience the beauty of hula, kanikapila (music jam sessions), and ceremonies that highlight connections between Native Hawaiian and visiting Indigenous nations. ✨ Loa’s Trading Post & Feast of Nations: Shop at Loa’s Trading Post, a vibrant marketplace of handcrafted regalia, art, jewelry, clothing, and cultural treasures. Then, taste the diversity of Indigenous food traditions at the Feast of Nations—where flavors from Turtle Island, Hawaiʻi, and the Pacific come together in a celebration of sustenance and sharing. ✨ Family-Friendly Learning: Educational booths, cultural demonstrations, and interactive activities provide opportunities for keiki and families to connect with authentic Indigenous knowledge and practices. Why It Matters For nearly five decades, the Honolulu Intertribal Powwow has been one of Hawaiʻi’s most enduring Indigenous cultural gatherings. In 2025, the tradition grows into the Circle of Nations: Honolulu Intertribal Experience, an expanded vision that celebrates not only the powwow but also cultural exchange across oceans. This gathering honors Native Hawaiians, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, Puerto Ricans, and allied Indigenous peoples from around the globe. Together, we affirm our shared values: respect for land and water, resilience through adversity, and the kuleana (responsibility) to pass wisdom to the next generation. When you attend, you are more than a guest—you are part of the circle that sustains culture, learning, and hope. The Spirit of Place The Waikīkī Shell Amphitheater, nestled within Kapiʻolani Park, provides a stunning setting for this year’s celebration. Dedicated in 1877 to Queen Kapiʻolani, the park has long been a place where community and culture thrive. Today, as the sounds of the drum and the voices of dancers rise within the Shell, they echo the Queen’s vision: “Kūlia i ka nuʻu” — Strive for the highest. With Diamond Head standing as a guardian over the festivities, the event becomes not just a gathering, but a living expression of Indigenous strength and aloha. An Open Invitation The Circle of Nations is a free celebration for all. Whether you are kamaʻāina, a visitor, a student, or simply curious, you are warmly welcomed into the circle. Travelers: Discover Hawaiʻi’s deep ties to global Indigenous heritage. Families: Create memories with keiki through music, dance, and education. Educators & Students: Connect Classrooms to Living Cultural Traditions. Community Members: Celebrate heritage, unity, and aloha with pride. Partnerships & Gratitude This event is organized by Sky Brothers Collective dba Oʻahu Intertribal Council, with fiscal sponsorship by Ka Makani Kaili Koa, a Native Hawaiian 501(c)(3). We extend deep gratitude to our partners, volunteers, and sponsors—especially the Muckleshoot Veterans—whose generosity and commitment make this gathering possible. Their support ensures that the powwow tradition not only continues in Hawaiʻi but grows into a beacon of intertribal unity and cultural exchange.
