Cinema Nomad Screening
Cinema Nomad is an arts and culture-focused travel series that explores various nations through the lens of the country’s cinematic past, present and future. In each episode, host Stephanie Gardner takes viewers on a journey around the world through the eyes and experiences of filmmakers from a diverse set of backgrounds, delving into their hopes, dreams, and desires. Each episode delves into the country’s history and socio-political context while viewers are immersed in the local filmmakers’ day-to-day lives, visiting their homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, hang-outs, and the locations that inspire their creativity. The series is ultimately about curiosity, empathy, connection, and the universal power of storytelling to bridge cultures and deepen understanding. In this screening, Stephanie will take you to Albania, where she explores Albania's isolated past and rich filmmaking heritage through the eyes of women directors, and Jamaica, where Stephanie introduces you to SAS, a spirited single mom fighting for her voice in a male-driven film industry. Tickets are a suggested donation of $5-$10.
