First Presbyterian Church of Napa will soon celebrate two meaningful milestones in its history when, in April 2023, the site recognizes the 170th Anniversary since its founding by church members sent to Napa to establish a Presbyterian “society” in northern California. The Church will host special music, historical tours and refreshments on Sunday, April 30, 2023, from 9-10 am PDT.
The site will also celebrate and recognize the 155th year since installation of a hand-forged tower bell in 1868; its initial cost was $600 and carried a one-year warranty. The bell still rings today and will ring out 155 times on Sunday, April 30, 2023, 9:50am PDT, to commemorate this special day in its history.
In 2024, the Church will recognize its 150th Anniversary at its existing location which is recognized by the founding brick located on the north side of the Church. FPC is the only church in Napa recognized as an Historical Landmark by the State of California and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
First Presbyterian Church of Napa is committed to serving the community through spiritual growth, community engagement, youth programs and education, local and global outreach, mission-driven purpose, and through historic preservation as a center for gathering and welcoming all.
First Presbyterian Church of Napa sits at the center of downtown Napa on the corner of Third and Randolph Streets. We offer the use of our facilities to organizations through the valley for concerts, weddings, memorial services, and celebrations, and have welcomed thousands to our campus through the recent Napa Lighted Art Festival hosted by the City of Napa.

The Presbyterian Day School (PDS) is a mission of the First Presbyterian Church of Napa. Licensed through the State of California in 1973, they are celebrating their 50th Anniversary of serving the Napa Valley community across the generations. On Sunday, April 16, they will be welcoming former students, their families and staff to worship at 10am in the historic sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church, and then to continue the celebration in the Fellowship Hall at 11am with lunch and festivities. All activities are free and open to the public. Information about enrollment in the preschool will also be available.
Current enrollment demonstrates that over 90% of the families served by the Presbyterian Day School are frontline working families. From firefighters and paramedics to doctors and nurses to teachers and county and city employees—all come not only because of the convenient downtown location, but also because of the school’s longstanding commitment to offer affordable preschool and childcare. As it has gotten more expensive to live and work in Napa, the Presbyterian Day School has kept their rates lower in order to help families through financially trying times. The dedication and commitment of the staff make it possible for families to have a loving place for their children to be well cared for and for the parents to serve our Napa community in their various occupations.
If you or your children have attended the Presbyterian Day School over the years, you are welcome to join in the celebration on Sunday, April 16, beginning at 10 am in worship and with the festivities planned for the 50th Celebration in the Fellowship Hall. You might just see someone you haven’t seen since preschool!
