Chicagoland Daylily Society Welcomes Michelle Rogers
The Chicagoland Daylily Society welcomes Michelle Rogers on June 23, 2024, at The Community House, 415 West 8th Street in Hinsdale. Michelle will give a presentation on her hybridizing journey with Robert Ellison daylilies.
Her main daylily garden is at her home near Stillman Valley, IL. She also maintains the Bob Ellison Memorial Garden located at Hidden Timber Gardens near Chana, IL. Her daylily adventure began when she started working for Bob Ellison after high school graduation. She continued to work with Bob at his greenhouse until graduating from college and starting a teaching career. Michelle says that Bob instilled the love of daylilies and taught her the art of hybridizing. Before he passed away, he left many of his prized daylilies to her. As tribute, she created the Bob Ellison Memorial Garden and continued his hybridizing legacy. Her hybridizing goals include northern hardiness and beautiful flower form and habit.
Michelle is a part-time hybridizer around her career as a teacher at Stillman Valley High School where she holds several other roles with student clubs. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear “Ellison Daylilies” by Michelle Rogers.
