What does it mean to be silent? And what does it mean to be heard?
Our spring concert explores these themes juxtaposing Benjamin Britten’s iconic Hymn to St. Cecilia - a song celebrating musicians and sound - with arrangements of two more recent songs: Depeche Mode’s Enjoy the Silence and Simon & Garfunkel’s The Sound of Silence. Living choral composers round out the program including Vanessa Lann’s plea to “let in your voice” and Saunder Choi’s setting of Emma Lazarus' The New Colossus which begs us not to be silent in the face of those seeking refuge.
Join us for a moving and transfixing concert.
This concert will last 90 minutes including one intermission.
