Chicago African Summit & Community Resource Fair
At each station, participants will be required to make decisions under real-world constraints, including limited time, restricted resources, and barriers tied to their assigned roles. The experience is designed to reflect the difficult trade-offs many individuals and families face daily—whether choosing between attending an immigration appointment or earning income, securing childcare before being able to work, or navigating complex and often delayed systems.
Following the simulation, participants will engage in both small and large group discussions to reflect on their experiences, share insights, and explore how these challenges impact communities across the country. These facilitated conversations aim to move beyond awareness and encourage participants to consider tangible ways to support one another and foster stronger connections.
In addition to the immersive experience, the summit will feature a community resource fair, where local organizations will provide information, services, and direct connections to support systems available to immigrant and underserved communities.
