Inspired by a true story, this film follows the story of Joseph Bologne, a son of an African slave and a French plantation owner. The story unfolds as Bologne rises to an unexpected position as a celebrated violinist, composer, and fencer in French society. As he earns his place in the community, Bologne also engages in a love affair with Marie Antoinette.
