Central Virginia Lunar New Year Festival
This event is the celebration of the Chinese and many Asian communities' most important holiday: the end of the lunar year and the beginning of the new one. The festival is free and open to the public. After four years of virtual celebration online due to COVID, this year’s event will be live and expected to attract thousands of residents. As the Greater Richmond area continues to become diverse, cultural and educational events like this one, help local Richmonders understand the traditions shared by many Asian countries. The event includes dragon and lion dances, folk music and dance performances, cultural displays, hands-on crafts for children, and other interactive programs, as well as authentic Chinese food. This will not only be a festive event but also a cultural and educational resource for all who attend.
