Carquinez Village Presents: Options Beyond Aging in Place
Janet Duffey, a registered nurse with a master’s degree in geriatric and mental health nursing, will be the featured speaker of the Carquinez Village Speaker Series to be held at 10:30 am Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the Benicia Public Library, 150 East L St. in Benicia. Her presentation will explore options beyond aging in place.
Aging in place can take many forms. While most people envision staying in their own home, it may not be possible. Duffey will discuss a range of options, from in-home care to assisted living to skilled nursing facilities. She will describe the levels of care, autonomy, and opportunities for optimal health and aging as a person’s abilities change. Understanding each setting can help individuals and their families prepare for complex decisions in the future.
Duffey has more than 40 years of clinical experience in cardiac care, oncology, substance abuse treatment, mental health, and home health nursing. She is a professor emeritus at Napa Valley College and currently serves as Adjunct Faculty at California State University, Sacramento.

The program is free and open to the public. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
