What is burnout? What is it that burns out? How can we re-ignite our passion for caring for ourselves and for others?
David R. Kopacz, MD is a psychiatrist, integrative medicine doctor, yoga instructor, and meditation teacher who works at the Seattle VA and is an assistant professor at the UW.
David will give readings and meditations from his sixth book, Caring for Self & Others: Transforming Burnout, Compassion Fatigue, and Soul Loss.
Rather than only trying to avoid or prevent burnout, we can embrace it as a call to initiation into post-burnout growth and becoming wounded healers and educators. We can thus grow in wisdom and compassion from the inevitable suffering that comes from working with others.
Looking at how to nurture and support our full humanity, the book focuses on caring for body, emotions, mind, heart, creativity, spirituality and other human elements, offering over thirty meditations and practice exercises.
Health care workers, educators, leaders and managers - anyone who works with others and cares for people in their lives and work would find the reading of benefit.
