This course will examine the canal era in the United States, with a special focus on Maryland and the Susquehanna River. Students will explore the origin and evolution of the Susquehanna River. History of canals and the transportation revolution will be discussed. Topics include Havre de Grace, the Tidewater Canal, the C & D Canal, the C & O Canal, the Lockhouse in Havre de Grace, and canals after the railroad.
Note: To enhance course material presented in the classroom, a field trip may be included.

Details: This course is three (3) sessions totaling nine (9) hours
Cost: $49 persons under 60. $25 for Maryland residents over 60 (GZH521). $5 Senior Network Members (SZH521).
