All art is composed of lines, circles, waves, peaks, and geometric figures. The ancient art of calligraphy is drawing -- not writing. Handwriting does not matter. Instructor Francesca Simon is a professional calligrapher, with 30+ years of experience in New York City.
Her unique teaching technique begins with a personal evaluation which determines the best “tool” for the students to begin their calligraphy adventure. She evaluates each student’s ability to work with tools (gel pens, fountain pens, calligraphy markers). Based on the students “comfort level” she suggests which tool is best for the session.
Her “hands on” approach of evaluating each student as the session progresses shows each student the level of their natural ability. By the end of the session, each student discovers which “tool” is effective for to use at the beginner’s level.
All supplies needed for the class are provided by the instructor.
Students are encouraged to bring any calligraphy pens/markers they have previously purchased to use in class.
