Together, we’ll honor mothers lost to maternal suicide, raise awareness for maternal mental health, and spark conversations that save lives.
Everyone is welcome — family, friends, and community members. The first 50 people to register will receive a butterfly to release.
Here are 20 of the Minnesotan women we will be honoring who have been lost in the last decade (not an exhaustive list):
- Gwendolyn Heinen (2024)
- Radhika Snyder & Gretchen Butler (2021)
- 16 pregnant or postpartum women who died of “mental health conditions” from 2017-2019, according to an MDH report
- Stacy Gottwaldt (2016)

More about the campaign
The “Is MOM ok?” campaign, led by Cherished Mom, raises awareness about maternal suicide — one of the leading causes of maternal death in the U.S. — and builds community support for new mothers’ mental health.
Maternal suicide is devastating but preventable. This campaign breaks the silence around perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), ends stigma, and connects families with life-saving resources.
