Buffalo Chamber Music Society: Young Concert Artists (YCA) On Tour - Piano Trio
The Buffalo Chamber Music Society presents YCA on Tour, a special piano-trio performance featuring three exceptional Young Concert Artists: violinist Oliver Neubauer, cellist James Baik, and pianist Ying Li. Together, these rising international artists bring the brilliance of violin, the warmth of cello, and the expressive range of piano into vivid musical conversation.
YCA on Tour is a distinctive chamber-music initiative that brings together outstanding current Young Concert Artists and distinguished alumni in carefully formed ensembles. Rather than assembling musicians only for a single engagement, YCA on Tour artists prepare programs over an extended rehearsal period, allowing them to explore repertoire deeply and create performances marked by close collaboration, musical discovery, and uncommon polish. The result is an engaging concert experience that highlights both the individuality of each artist and the shared energy of an established ensemble.
Cellist James Baik, winner of the 2023 Young Concert Artists Susan Wadsworth International Auditions, has been praised by Le Soir for “an undeniable authority” and “a real warmth emerging in lyricism.” He is a YCA Jacobs Fellow and recipient of the Paul A. Fish Memorial Prize and Bridgehampton Chamber Music Prize.
Pianist Ying Li, a winner of the 2021 Young Concert Artists Susan Wadsworth International Auditions, is also a recipient of the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival Prize and the Tri-I Noon Recitals Prize. A compelling soloist and chamber musician, she has performed with ensembles including The Philadelphia Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic, New Jersey Symphony, and the Minnesota Orchestra.
Violinist Oliver Neubauer, winner of the 2023 Susan Wadsworth Young Concert Artists International Auditions and an inaugural YCA Jacobs Fellow, is recognized for his uniquely beautiful playing and mature artistry. A Juilliard graduate and Fondation Gautier Capuçon laureate, he performs on the c. 1725 “Milstein” Guarneri del Gesù violin, on loan from the Ryuji Ueno Foundation and Rare Violins in Consortium.
Join BCMS for an evening with three of classical music’s most exciting young voices. From lyrical intimacy to virtuosic energy, this YCA on Tour program offers the rare opportunity to hear a superbly prepared piano trio in the intimate setting of the Mary Seaton Room at Kleinhans Music Hall. The concert takes place Tuesday, December 15, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
