Buffalo Chamber Music Society: Gift To The Community Recital with Ziggy & Miles, guitar duo
Buffalo Chamber Music Society's Gift to the Community Recital welcomes Buffalo to a free performance by the internationally celebrated Australian classical-guitar duo Ziggy and Miles Johnston.
Called “Australian guitarist brothers making history” by The Age, Ziggy and Miles have earned recognition for performances of “deeply considered musicianship, immaculate care and superlative technique.” The brothers were winners of the 2023 Young Concert Artists Susan Wadsworth International Auditions—the first guitar duo and only the second guitarists to receive the honor in the organization’s 65-year history—and served as 2024–25 Musicians-in-Residence at Dumbarton Oaks, Harvard University’s research institute and historic music venue.
Their program showcases the remarkable expressive range of two classical guitars: lyrical intimacy, rhythmic energy, brilliant virtuosity, and the close musical communication of siblings who have performed together since childhood. Their acclaimed album Sidekick, named among WQXR’s Best New Classical Albums of 2023, features music inspired by Spain, Latin America, and Australia, as well as their “transfixingly beautiful” arrangement of Debussy’s Clair de Lune.
