Brethren: The Story of USCT Troops at Benton Barracks
Park Ranger Greg will chronicle the tragedies and the triumphs of formerly enslaved and free Black men in the city of St. Louis who became a part of the famed 62nd, 65th, 67th, and 68th United States Colored Troops. He will trace their journeys from enslavement, mistreatment at Benton Barracks, their education within the military, their engagement in the Civil War, and their subsequent founding of Lincoln University with their own hard-earned money. Their sacrifice shows their true commitment to freedom in America and their patriotism for the country that they loved. Reservations for this program may be made by calling 314-842-1867 ext. 230.
