About the Book
Quilly is a porcupine with a prickly problem. He pokes, pops, and pierces everything in sight! His friend's birthday party was a catastrophe. Games on the playground were a fiasco. Don't even ask what happened during show and tell.
Poor Quilly can't seem to do anything right! As his first Animal Scout camping trip draws near, he quivers with excitement to use his new tent, sleeping bag, and canteen, but he's also afraid. Will this camping trip be a total disaster, too?

Mary is a local author from Grimes, IA. Growing up, she often felt like she couldn’t do anything right, and that feeling sometimes follows us into adulthood. Quilly captures that relatable emotion in a way kids can immediately recognize. His journey reminds us that the traits that make us feel “too much” or “not enough” may be exactly what makes us special.
