Boardwalk Empire Author to Address PR Council of Greater Atlantic City Nov. 20
Nelson C. Johnson, well known as the author of “Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City,” will address the Public Relations Council of Greater Atlantic City at their lunch meeting, Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Linwood Country Club. The event runs 11:45 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. and is open to the public.
Gaming came to Atlantic City almost 50 years ago. There have been many ups and downs during turbulent times--casino openings and closings, city administrations coming and going and vast regional development. Johnson will discuss what he views as “missed opportunities” for Atlantic City dating from the 70s to the present. He will also talk about how he pitched HBO on developing his book into the popular television series of the same name.

About Our Speaker: Johnson, of Hammonton, is a retired judge, an attorney and historian. During the past 15 years, he has made more than 200 presentations on his books, which also include the “Boardwalk Empire” sequel, “The Northside: African Americans and the Creation of Atlantic City.” His writings are products of his insatiable curiosity and passion for the written word. He has completed a fourth book which recounts the two worst years in the life of the legendary lawyer, Clarence Darrow.
