Black History Month film showing: Fannie Lou Hamer's America


In her own words, powerful civil rights leader Fannie Lou Hamer describes the risks and challenges of organizing in the 1960s Jim Crow South, amid extreme political polarization that resonates today. The film traces her early years in rural Mississippi, fight for the right to vote, work in the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, opposition to the Vietnam war, and more. Open discussion will follow the one-hour documentary.
