BLACK CINEMA SERIES: "PUNCH 9 FOR HAROLD WASHINGTON"
NEW FILM ON POLITICAL TRAILBLAZER SCREENS AT THE LITTLE THEATRE
The Black Cinema Series, a partnership between the Rochester Association of Black Journalists (RABJ) and the Little Theatre, will present PUNCH 9 FOR HAROLD WASHINGTON on Thursday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m.
AN EPIC STORY of American politics, race, and triumph against all odds, that chronicles the captivating rise, surprising reign, and enduring legacy of Chicago's first Black Mayor, Harold Washington. In one of the dirtiest political campaigns in American history, in a city rife with corruption and discrimination, Harold Washington took on the machine and won.
AFTER THE FILM, a moderator will lead the discussion with two of the filmmakers over Zoom.
JOE WINSTON | Producer/Director - Over 20 years as an Editor, Producer and Director. Winston grew up in Chicago. Field Produced "Citizen Koch," 2013 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize Nominee. Directed and produced critically acclaimed 2009 documentary "What's the Matter with Kansas?"
RAYMOND LAMBERT | Producer - Social Entrepreneur, Filmmaker, and Published Author. Peabody Award-Winning Executive Producer, PBS American Masters documentary "Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise." A founder of All Jokes Aside Chicago, featured in his memoir and a Showtime documentary.
KEVIN S. BECKFORD | Panel Moderator - Internationally Recognized Operations Executive, Change Agent and Anti-Racism Strategist, Beckford is the first African American elected to public office in Pittsford, N.Y. (Member, Pittsford Town Board, 2018-2021).
Tickets are available online in advance or at the box office day of the screening.
Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; film begins at 7:30 p.m. The screening will be shown at the Little Theatre (Little Theatre 1), 240 East Ave., East End District, Rochester, New York.
