ABOUT BENTEEN PARK

Benteen Park is a distinct and vibrant neighborhood located in southeastern Atlanta, Georgia. While it shares proximity to Grant Park and East Atlanta, Benteen Park stands as a separate community with its own unique identity and history.

Development and History: The Benteen Park neighborhood emerged in the early 20th century and experienced various stages of growth and development. Initially established in the 1920s, it was designed as a residential area to accommodate Atlanta's expanding population. The neighborhood takes its name from the nearby Benteen Elementary School, which honors Brigadier General Frederick Benteen, a notable figure from the American Civil War.

Community and Location: Situated between Boulevard SE to the west (bordering the Chosewood Park neighborhood), Boulevard Heights to the north, Custer/McDonough/Guice to the east, McDonough Boulevard and the Atlanta Federal Prison to the south, Benteen Park occupies a small but quaint area in Southeast Atlanta. The neighborhood showcases a close-knit community spirit with charming tree-lined streets, the only park in the South Atlantans for Neighborhood Development communities, and a strong sense of pride and belonging. Its location provides convenient access to major thoroughfares like I-20 and Moreland Avenue, facilitating easy travel to other parts of Atlanta.

The Fall Festival and Community Engagement: Benteen Park's fall festival is a highly anticipated annual event that embodies the community's lively spirit and commitment to fostering connections among its residents. This festive celebration marks the arrival of autumn, bringing neighbors together to indulge in local delicacies, enjoy entertainment, partake in engaging activities, and support local businesses and artisans. The fall festival serves as a prime example of Benteen Park's dedication to creating an inclusive and welcoming neighborhood atmosphere. It provides a platform for both residents and visitors to experience the warmth and hospitality that define Benteen Park.
