Bees are Life! Join State Apiarist Andy Joseph Tuesday October 1 at Dsm Izaak Walton League!
Andy Joseph, State Apiarist with The Iowa Department of Agriculture & Land Stewardship will visit the Des Moines Izaak Walton League Tuesday, October 1 to teach us about bees and beekeeping! 4343 George Flagg Parkway (Intersection of George Flagg and Park), Des Moines 50321. Without bees (and thousands of other insect species that call the US home), it wouldn't be long before our ecosystem collapsed. Bees are part of the biodiversity on which we all depend for our survival. They provide high-quality food—honey, royal jelly and pollen — and other products such as beeswax, propolis and honey bee venom. Andy has served as State Apiarist since 2008. Additionally he and his family run Meadow Blazing Star Honey, a small bee & honey business. They live in Des Moines. Admission to Andy's talk at 6:45 is FREE and open to the public, with a FRIED WALLEYE dinner at 6 available for purchase.
