Left Bank Brasserie in Oakland will be celebrating Beaujolais Nouveau, the “first wine” of the harvest season, on Thursday, November 16, with festive menu additions all day, an early evening splash table with complimentary tastings, and Beaujolais Nouveau (Georges Duboeuf, Beaujolais Nouveau, FRA 2023) by the glass/$11 and bottle/$44.
The menu additions will be Quenelle Mere Brazier/$21, salmon and scallop mousse, and brandy lobster bisque; Coq au Beaujolais/$30, Beaujolais marinated chicken leg and thigh, bacon lardons, baby carrots, button mushrooms, pearl onions, and egg noodles; and Mulled Beaujolais Poached Bosc Pear/$12, spiced Beaujolais, cassis, French prunes, and pistachios.
These items will also be available for lunch and dinner Friday, November 17 through Sunday, November 19, plus there will be some additional live music. Prices exclude tax and gratuity. Regular menu items will be served during the celebration.
Beaujolais Nouveau is, by law, celebrated in France on the third Thursday of November every year. At one minute past midnight on that day, from little villages and towns, over a million cases of Beaujolais Nouveau begin their journey through a sleeping France to Paris for immediate shipment to all parts of the world. Banners proclaim the good news: Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé! One of the most frivolous and animated rituals in the wine world has begun.
