Jeremy Davenport is undeniably the latter — a New Orleans jazz institution whose warm tone, silky vocals, and gift for intimacy have made him one of the most beloved performers in the Louisiana tradition.Born into a musical family in St. Louis, Davenport studied under the legendary Ellis Marsalis in New Orleans before spending six years touring the world with Harry Connick Jr.'s Big Band. That foundation — classical rigor, Marsalis mentorship, Connick showmanship — shaped an artist who moves effortlessly between trumpet and voice, jazz standards and original songs. His long-running residency at the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans has drawn the likes of Sting, Paul McCartney, and Diana Krall into the room just to listen.For one intimate evening at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center, Jeremy Davenport brings his New Orleans magic to downtown Baton Rouge.
