Participants will learn to treat their pots with colorants, copperwire, and organic materials. After we treat our pots participants will learn how to prepare the barrels for a successful firing. Once the barrels are loaded and lit they will burn most of the afternoon, when cool enough to remove, pots will be washed, sealed and ready to take home. * Barrel fired pots are one of a kind works of art and can not be replicated, they are truly magical * Barrel fired pots are not food safe and will not ho... During the day, tour the property, early spring garden, 1800’s schoolhouse, 1800’s chapel studio, and 1783 home located in the Village of Snydersville, PA ***Workshop requirements (important!) Participants can bring up to two 2lb pots made of Raku clay only (Can be purchased in advance from Kettle Creek Pottery in PA, or Erin McQuary in VA) You do not have to buy the clay from us. You can order Raku clay and build /throw/ sculpt your pieces from home! Pots must be treated with tera sigillata first and then bisque fired to 08. Choose 1 day, or 2 days of barrel firing fun and learning! *Rain Dates will be announced
