AUTUMN JAZZ with the James Fernando Trio

AUTUMN JAZZ with the James Fernando Trio The Arts at Trinity will present The James Fernando Trio, with vocalist Taisha Estrada, performing original music and jazz standards, on Friday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 1108 N. Adams St., Wilmington. Admission is free, including pre-and post-concert receptions. Hailed as a “prodigiously gifted composer and virtuoso pianist,” Philadelphia-based James Fernando creates music that lies at the intersection of jazz, classical, and electronic genres. The Berklee College of Music graduate has five albums to his name and has collaborated with award-winning artists internationally. He is on faculty at Levine Music in Washington, D.C. and has served as a Strathmore Artist in Residence. The James Fernando Trio – including multifaceted percussionist Kyon Williams and bass player Sanuel Harris -- will be joined by Puerto Rican singer Taisha Estrada, whose vocals, rooted in the traditions of Latin and American jazz, have an innovative, multi-genre sound. The artists, whose projects have been featured in the Washington Post and NPR’s Tiny Desk show, have performed at major venues including the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Blues Alley, the Strathmore Music Center, and the Kimmel Center. They have just completed a tour of New England and will be returning to the Kennedy Center on Nov. 21. “The lush, soulful sounds of the James Fernando Trio, with the addition of Taisha Estrada’s gorgeous vocals, is the perfect way to start a late October weekend,” said David Simmons, Trinity Parish’s music director. “We’re looking forward to a relaxing autumn evening filled with music that lifts the spirit and soothes the soul.” Trinity Church is wheelchair accessible, with designated parking spaces, ramps on either side of the complex, and an outdoor elevator. Free parking is available adjacent to the church on N. Adams Street and in the church parking lot on W. 11th Street.
