A special engagement of the show GOOD PEOPLE, by David Lindsay-Abaire, is presented by Aurora Players for one weekend only. This isn’t the only unique thing about this performance, though. This is a Readers Theater performance. Instead of a fully staged production, audiences will have a chance to experience the process of staging a play and let their imaginations run wild. Staged readings feature the actors on stage with minimal to no set, props, and costumes – allowing the audiences to fill in the blanks in their own minds as the actors present the show.
GOOD PEOPLE powerfully explores the story of a working class, middle-aged, South Boston woman struggling to make ends meet and care for her developmentally delayed daughter. She finds herself unemployed and pushed along by her bingo friends to turn to an old high school boyfriend, now married and successful in his own life, for help. Playwright David Lindsay-Abaire has crafted a script that looks at the assembled characters and calls into question: who are the “good people” in life’s struggles to survive everyday life.
GOOD PEOPLE is on stage May 17th and 18th, both performances starting at 7:30pm.Tickets are just $10.00 at the door. More information at www.auroraplayers.org
