Sun, Apr 07 2019 at 4:30 pm Come join Carnegie Mellon University's 'All University Orchestra' present their spring 2019 concert, 'The Forgotten Offerings.' This concert evolves around an assortment of composers and pieces rarely programmed on today's concerts.
Headed by Music Director, Jeffrey Klefstad, the program begins with Olivier Messiaen's first orchestral work, Les offrandes oubliees. The Ballade for Flute, Strings and Piano by the Swiss composer Frank Martin follows and features Aydan Hensley (flute),winner of the 3rd AUO Concerto & Aria Competition. The first half will conclude with an arrangement of Claude Debussy's Petite Suite, originally for piano and orchestrated by Henri Busser after the composer's death.
The second half beings with the rarely performed overture from W.A. Mozart's one-act opera, The Impresario, and concludes with the Symphony No. 2 'Romantic' by the American giant, Howard Hanson.
