Join us on Thursday April 25th for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into the future of aerospace engineering. We will dive into the challenges faced with scanning and replicating Michoud Assembly Facility, with more than 2 million square feet of manufacturing space sitting on 829 acres of land. Michoud is responsible for constructing the Space Launch System (SLS) for Artemis II, the largest rocket stage NASA has ever constructed for missions to the moon and mars. Date: Thursday, April 25th, 2024 Location: Varsity Theatre, Baton Rouge, LA Time: Doors open at 6:30 PM, event begins at 7 PM Speaker 1: Marc Aubanel, Director of the Digital Media Arts & Engineering program at LSU and Jason Jamerson Director of XR Studios and Assistant Professor of Virtual Production and Immersive Media. They will demonstrate the first phase of their research creating a prototyping for a fully-functioning digital twin. This digital twin serves as more than just a replication of the physical facility; it acts as a data-driven model revolutionizing traditional design testing. Through real-time technology, attendees will explore its myriad use cases, including real-time component tracking, environmental condition simulations, and augmented reality-based support. Speaker 2: Natalie Hinkel will give a talk entitled "From Stars to Planets to Life". In particular, how to use the composition of stars (abundances) to understand the interior of small planets Save the date and spread the word! Let's explore the universe's enigmas together.
