ArtSpace: Visible Mending Workshop
Saturday, October 26, 2-4PM
Do you have any clothing that has rips, pesky stains or holes in it that you’d like to mend? Join Mariko Sugimori (Instagram @Mona_and_Zoe) for an introduction to visible mending where you’ll learn creative techniques—including patching and darning—to give your well-loved clothing a new life! Your newly acquired skills will help you to curate a more sustainable wardrobe by increasing the life of your clothing and keeping it out of the landfill.
People of all skill levels are welcome to this course. All the mending supplies you need to get started will be provided. You are also welcome to bring any items of clothing that are in need of mending, but that’s not required.
About Mariko:
I’ve recently been exploring various methods of visible repair with kintsugi and textile mending, in addition to the repairs for friends/neighbors. I have really enjoyed empowering people to extend the life of their things and reduce waste, and am interested in trying to find ways to make mending a larger part of my life and our community.
Open to ages 15+, all supplies included.
