Artists Against Genocide: A Day of Reparations to African People Event

On Saturday, September 6th, poets, musicians and visual artists will perform in a benefit concert at the Unitarian Universalist Church of St. Petersburg titled "Artists Against Genocide”. The event is one of many to be held across the country this fall as part of the Uhuru Solidarity Movement’s Days of Reparations to African People annual campaign in material solidarity with the self-determination programs of the African People’s Socialist Party’s Black Star Industries that is building an independent, anti-colonial African economy. Black Star Industries programs include community gardens, farmers markets, a bakery cafe, a women’s health center, workforce housing and job training for recently released prisoners, independent publishing and broadcasting media outlets and facilities for vendors and entrepreneurs to grow community-based businesses. All of the programs of the Black Star Industries are designed to overturn conditions of genocide that are caused by the system of colonialism that oppresses and exploits African people on the continent and everywhere they have been forcibly dispersed to benefit the white population. This is the same colonial system that is committing genocidal slaughter in Gaza. The Uhuru Solidarity Movement, organized and led by the African People’s Socialist Party, calls on white people to take a stand of reparations through participating in the Days of Reparations to African People and in St. Petersburg attending the Artists Against Genocide event. Attendees can enjoy music and culture while learning more about how to end our complicity with the oppression of colonized people and transform ourselves into forces for anti-colonial change, under the leadership of the oppressed.
