ANTiPODE Art Exhibition Soft Opening + Jazz N01

ANTiPODE presents video art, experimental music, short/long films, drawing, paintings, prints and posters from leading artists who still live in Tehran (either physically or in heart) to force Seattle and Tehran to interact, so they can give birth to balance, and Tehran and Seattle can create meaningful long-term connections. The co-founders of ANTiPODE, Saïna Heshmati and Amirhossein Amini, both lived in Tehran for 23 years and both ended up in Seattle, where each has lived for over 10 years. They call it ANTiPODE because, given their experience in both cities, they see Tehran and Seattle as culturally opposite.
Tim Kennedy, one of the shining stars of the current Northwest music scene, will lead ANTiPODE’s first Jazz night, aka Jazz on the 8th floor N01. You’ll find Tim playing electric keys in the modern jazz trio Gravity, classic rock in the groups Hot Rod and Big Tooth, and doing solo gigs as pianist, guitarist and/or singer. Tim considers himself a songwriter first, and finds more opportunities by playing as much music with as many players as he can. The result is a player and composer who thinks more about each song than about any preconceived ideas of what jazz should be. https://timkennedy.bandcamp.com
