An Evening with Holocaust Survivor Goldie Jacoby

Chabad of Bakersfield & The Central Valley Holocaust Memorial presents: An evening of hope and inspiration Date: Sunday, August 25, 2024 Time: 5 p.m. (2 Hour Event) Admission: $18 adult $7 Student Ticket link: http://www.chabadofbakersfield.com/goldiejacoby Address: Cal State Bakersfield- Doré Theatre, 9001 Stockdale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93311 Behind every Holocaust survivor is an incredible story of determination, struggle, and loss, as well as a journey of the triumph of survival. As data shows rising antisemitism and profound ignorance about the Holocaust, now more than ever, we must listen carefully to the voices of living survivors of the Shoah. We must share their stories widely, and use their testimonies to teach future generations because those who are ignorant of the past are doomed to repeat it. Hear Goldie Jacoby’s moving story and experiences during one of the darkest times in history. Goldie Jacoby was born on May 14, 1937. She lived with her parents and brother in Katowice, Poland, which Nazi Germany annexed in September 1939. In 1942 Goldie’s family visited her grandparents in Frishtak, a Polish small town, and found despairing sadness with the Nazis on the march. At just five years old, Goldie witnessed unforgettable horrors. Running and hiding for survival, a kind-hearted Christian farmer risked hiding her 10 family members in his barn for almost three years until Poland was liberated on January 27, 1945.
