An Evening with Bestselling Author Meg Waite Clayton Featuring her new novel, "Typewriter Beach"

The Abbot Public Library Foundation is honored to host New York Times bestselling author Meg Waite Clayton for a special presentation of her latest novel, "Typewriter Beach." Renowned for her "unmatched talent for crafting historical fiction that resonates powerfully in the present," Clayton’s newest work is a riveting tale of 1950’s Hollywood, blacklisted screenwriters, and long-buried secrets. Set against the atmospheric backdrop of Carmel-by-the-Sea, the story weaves together the lives of an aspiring "Hitchcock blonde" in 1957 and a modern-day screenwriter who uncovers a mystery hidden for decades. Registration is required - please register at tinyurl.com/Clayton-Talk. The first 30 guests to register will receive a free signed paperback copy of the book, and Copper Dog Books will be selling more at the event. Publishers Weekly has hailed the book as an "irresistible story" with "intrigue to spare," making it a must-read for fans of Hollywood’s Golden Age. During the program, Clayton will share the personal inspiration behind the novel, from her own move to the California coast to her deep-seated interest in the McCarthy-era struggle for free speech. This event offers a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of the writing process with the acclaimed author of "The Postmistress of Paris" and "The Last Train to London." Beverly's Copper Dog Books will be partnering with us to offer a book sale and signing, ensuring you can take home a personalized copy of this summer's standout release. The evening will conclude with a festive dessert reception, providing a wonderful setting to gather, enjoy a sweet treat, and discuss this unforgettable story of unlikely friendship. This program is sponsored by the Abbot Public Library Foundation.
