An Evening of Hope: 5th Annual Fundraiser for Relief in Tigray Hosted by Demera with All-Star Chicag
Join Demera for its fifth annual fundraising event, An Evening of Hope: Celebrating Five Years of Empowerment, on Thursday, September 18th from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Hosted by Chef Tigist Reda, the milestone event marks five powerful years of community, compassion, and collective action with music and food from some of Chicago’s top chefs and industry giants while raising money for a great cause.
The evening will take place at Demera Ethiopian Restaurant (4801 North Broadway, Chicago 60640), in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. The event will feature an unforgettable culinary showcase featuring over ten of Chicago’s finest chefs at interactive chef stations, including Demera’s own Chef Tigist Reda, serving hand-curated delights just for this special occasion. Along with delicious bites, the evening will include an Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony, and a signature marketplace (or souk) featuring original artwork, cultural clothing, and handcrafted accessories, perfect for those who love to give with impact. Get ready for a bar takeover by Bayab African Spirit and Santa Teresa 1976 Rum. Participate in a live auction, meet the doctors behind the mission, and listen to stories of people whose lives have been impacted.
Proceeds from the evening are donated to Health Professionals Network for Tigray (HPN4Tigray), a non-profit dedicated to helping those affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Tigray, Ethiopia, and Sudan. Donations help HP4NTigray bring hope and healing to women, children, and families across Tigray and Sudanese refugee camps. Funding is used for specialized medical outreach bringing pediatric and OBGYN care to rural Tigray, community-based mental health programs reaching those still healing from deep trauma in the refugee camps of Sudan, and computer training that opens doors for refugees. To date, Demera has raised more than $300,000 with the Evening of Hope fundraising events.
Tickets for An Evening of Hope are $125 for general admission. A VIP Experience is available for $250 and includes wine tasting with curated pairings, upscale small bites, Injera making demo, and an interactive welcome with the HPN4Tigray team.
