AN AMERICAN SALUTE
Marking the approach of Veteran’s Day, The Serafins will perform AN AMERICAN SALUTE on Thursday, November 6th at 4:30 in Greenville. Their signature “Serafin Soirée” series at Stonegates in Greenville returns, after drawing sold-out crowds last season. Guests mingle with the artists after the performance at a premium reception. This one-hour program pays tribute to America, featuring compositions written from the 1890’s to today. Represented is an eclectic array of works by African American composers William Grant Still and Florence Price, Jewish composer Peter Schickele, and the living composer Jennifer Higdon. Capping this program of lively to reflective works will be two movements from Czech composer Antonin Dvorak’s time-honored and ever-popular, “American Quartet”, written during the time he lived in the United States. The program traverses a vast creative landscape inspired by the grand diversity of our land and people.
