The Inca Garcilaso Medal:
A key highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Inca Garcilaso Medal 2025, honoring individuals and institutions whose contributions to the arts, education, and cultural advocacy foster societal growth and unity. Inspired by Inca Garcilaso de la Vega (1539–1616), often regarded as the "first mestizo" of the Americas, he was the son of an Inca princess and a Spanish conquistador—born at a time when borders in this hemisphere had yet to be defined. As a symbol of cultural fusion and the first mestizo writer of the Americas, the medal reflects our deep cultural ties to Spain, celebrates our multicultural identity, and evokes the immense cultural richness that defines the Americas.
2025 Honorees (Recipients of the Inca Garcilaso Medal):
• The Celia Cruz Foundation – In honor of Celia Cruz’s centennial and her lasting impact on Latin music and culture.
• The Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation – Supporting emerging Latin music talent.
• The Miami Children’s Chorus – Recognized for over three decades of nurturing and inspiring young voices.
