FREE, but advance registration is required, and space is limited; walk-up students will not be accepted.
WHO: For adults already balancing and pedaling on their bikes but wish to improve their confidence and bike handling skills. Mature teens 14 and older are welcome, but those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
WHAT: A FREE 3-hour, on-bike beginner class for adults and mature teens who want to improve their core cycling skills. You’ll learn how to adjust your helmet for a safe and comfortable fit, perform a simple mechanical inspection to ensure your bike is road-ready, start and stop confidently, shift gears, scan & signal, and navigate common hazards. We will finish the session with a short and casual group ride around the Viera community along the multi-use paths (optional).
EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
- You must have your own bicycle that fits properly and is in good working condition (i.e., wheels spin freely, brakes function, gears shift). Class I E-bikes welcome (no throttle, max speed 20 mph).
- Helmets are required. A free helmet will be provided if you do not have one.
- Be prepared for biking in outdoor conditions by wearing light and comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, and sunscreen. 🚲 A reusable water bottle and any desired snacks.
- A positive attitude! 😊
