Adrienne Van Summern will exhibit a new series of portraits and still-life oil paintings in her upcoming show, Quiet Moments, at the Pence Gallery. Van Summern is an artist well-versed in the techniques of traditional fine arts. Inspired by historical realist painters such as Titian and Rembrandt, she captures portraits and figurative subjects with equal adeptness.
Summern focuses on the impact perception has as a basis in her work, combining emotional realism with traditional rendering techniques. Each piece shows her interpretation of an individual, a mood, or a story, that seeks a deeper understanding from the viewer. In her work, she questions our perception as observers and encourages the exploration of our own unique experience.
