Acrylic Painting, Snow at Argenteuil by Claude Monet
Embrace the beauty of winter as you paint your own version of Monet’s Snow at Argenteuil. In this class, we will study this painting to learn about Monet’s wonderful sensitivity to white, his exceptional ability to see the various modulations of color in snow. Begin training your eye to see those modulations instead of just white snow, to differentiate the color abundance in the blues and grays of winter, as Monet did. Learn and approximate Monet’s tinted blue greens, subtle red violets and dashes of ocher. Practice his short brush strokes that create the undisturbed snow and his thicker paint on the road surface that produces the feel of disturbed snow.
