This illustrated lecture lets us look closely at the environmental impact of the fashion industry and our own relationships with clothes. We examine everything from the nature and processing of the fabrics we use to the design and sales of clothing, to the globalized economy, to consumer habits and use, to disposability. What would sustainable fashion look like? Is it possible to produce “clean” clothes? What counteracts “fast fashion”? How does this interface with our relationship with clothes? Why is this such a thorny issue, and is there anything we can do?
