ACE - Forbidden Faith: The Gnostic Gospels' Ancient Alternative View of Jesus
This course explores the fascinating and esoteric world of Gnosticism and its widespread influence on early Christianity as expressed in the "Gnostic Gospels”- a group of "heterodox” writings about the teachings of Jesus (dating from the 2nd-4th century AD) that were not included in the canon of the New Testament used by Christians today. Specific texts to be examined include: The Gospel of Thomas, The Gospel of Truth, The Gospel of Philip, The Gospel of Mary, The Gospel of Judas, and The Egyptian Gospel.
