Abigail Adams and the Daughters of Liberty

Join the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries on Saturday, November 9, at 2:00 p.m. for a live performance and multimedia presentation, Abigail Adams and the Daughters of Liberty. The performance will be held at the Dartmouth North Branch Library. Abigail Adams and the Daughters of Liberty is a live performance featuring Carol Cohen as Abigail Adams. Set in January 1774, a month after the Boston Tea Party, Abigail Adams gathers a group of women for a “spinning bee” where they will discuss matters of concern to the colonists while they spin yarn to make fabric. The audience will be part of the meeting where Abigail introduces several of the women such as historian and author Mercy Otis Warren and poet Phillis Wheatly. The performance will be followed by an informative presentation providing a close-up look at several members of the Daughters of Liberty and their contributions to the American Revolution. Carol Cohen is a lifelong academic and published historian. In the past, the Friends hosted a popular presentation on Eleanor Roosevelt with Ms. Cohen. In celebration of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, Carol has created a show about Abigail Adams, the Daughters of Liberty, and their contributions to the American War of Independence. Ms. Cohen’s presentation will be held at North Branch Dartmouth Library, 211 Cross Road, Dartmouth. For more information, please e-mail [email protected].
