AAUW HMB Speaker Series: Why Fighting For the Coastside LGBTQ Community Matters
One of the newer non-profit organizations on the coast, CoastPride is an organization created by our local community in San Mateo County to improve the support, visibility and awareness of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) individuals and families. Our speakers are:
- Kassi Talbot, president, Coast Pride (she/her)
- Cameron Zeller, operations director (they/them)
Kassandra (Kassi) Talbot (she/her/hers) EdD is a doctor of Educational Leadership. Her dissertation title is: “Reclaiming the Story: Youth Participatory Action Research in the Rural Social Studies Classroom.” She has been a classroom co-learner for the past nine years. She facilitates high school Spanish and History courses and teaches Teen Health to 6-8th. Kassi is the current CoastPride President, a CTA Human Rights Cadre Trainer and a Red Cross First Aid Instructor.
Cameron Zeller lives in El Granada with their partner, Demi. They enjoy making music, spending time with family around the Bay Area, and being outside. They are now the Operations Director at CoastPride, helping to deepen the foundation of the organization’s existing programs and expand services based on the needs of the coastside LGBTQ+ community.
