Mother Bethel AME Church and Theater of War Productions present A REFUTATION — a free, powerful performance that brings to life the debates surrounding Philadelphia’s 1793 yellow fever epidemic through dramatic readings of historic texts by Richard Allen, Absalom Jones, Matthew Carey, and Benjamin Rush. Featuring acclaimed actors, the production explores enduring themes of race, health, and civic responsibility. Following the reading, Artistic Director Bryan Doerries will lead a community discussion on how these issues continue to resonate in conversations about health and equity today.
