A Constellation of Poets


Dandelion Bookshop and the Erie Street Press present “A Constellation of Poets”, 4:30 pm Sunday, October 19 at the bookshop The bookshop is located at 139 S. Oak Park Avenue in Oak Park. Six Midwestern poets: Rick Duffey, Beatriz-Badakian Gartler, David Gecic, Ixtaccihuatl, Pamela Miller and James Madigan will read some of their best work. The event is free. Rick Duffey has a new book of his work just released, Idiom of The American Boy. Born in Argentina, Beatriz Badakian -Gartler’s essays, poems, and stories have appeared in numerous publications. David Gecic is well-known in the Chicago poetry scene, both as a performer and as publisher of Puddinhead Press. Ixtaccihuatl’s poetry has been published in various journals: Lucky Star Howling Dog , ACM (Another Chicago Magazine), Hammers & others. Pam Miller has published six books of poetry, most recently How to Do the Greased Wombat Slide (Unsolicited Press, 2024) and Mr. Mischief (forthcoming from Dancing Girl Press). Her first book, Fast Little Shoes, was published by the Erie Street Press. James Madigan, a familiar name to Oak Park Public Library denizens, is a long-time political activist in peace and social justice movements. He returned to school after retirement, and was the recipient of the Michael Anania Award for Poetry in May, 2022 awarded by the University of Illinois at Chicago.
