Whether you're a lifelong horse lover or new to the sport, the Germantown Charity Horse Show offers an unforgettable experience for all ages! Each day and evening features an action-packed schedule brimming with excitement, and opportunities to discover the beauty and power of these incredible horses - and the sport of showing them.
You will see a wide variety of horses in competition from the elegance of the Western Pleasure Saddlebreds with riders in dazzling attire and the mesmerizing rhythmic tap dancing of the Paso Finos, to the majestic beauty of Gypsy Vanners with their long flowing manes, tails, and feathered legs. Enjoy elegant carriage driving, and the Carriage Dog class with drivers dressed up in old-fashioned clothing while competing with their dogs. Experience the excitement of speed racking competitions and carriage scurry races. There are many jumping competitions throughout the week, including the thrilling not to be missed $25,000 Grand Prix—a premier jumping competition for expert riders.
Come early for great seats and explore our vendor booths! Event times are approximate and may shift a bit as classes run longer or finish early. Weather related changes are also possible. TUESDAY
Versatility Challenge (~4:30 pm)
A Hunter/Jumper completion with a $5,000 “purse.” It’s called the versatility challenge because each entry competes in two rounds: first to jump in a smooth classic “hunter” round, followed by a timed jumper round over a different set of jumps.
The Rachael Smith Memorial Costume Class (~6:30 pm)
Kids, horses, and ponies dress up and parade around the ring in incredibly creative and imaginative costumes!
WEDNESDAY
Welcome Stake (~5:00 pm)
The $15,000 Welcome Stake jumper competition - top riders and horses compete in this exciting timed event!
Lead Line Classes (Following the Welcome Stake)
Young riders dressed in their finest English or Western attire mount immaculately groomed ponies and horses and are led around the ring by an adult.
Smooth Ride Challenge (Evening)
Riders will navigate the ring balancing a filled wine-glass while trying not to spill a drop!
THURSDAY
Gambler’s Choice (~4:15 pm)
Time matters as riders choose jumps with different point values and try to accumulate the most points to win!
Exhibition Carriage Gambler’s Choice for Horses and Ponies (Not before 6:30 pm)
Carriage drivers select their own path and race against the clock to win!
Youth Speed Racking (Evening)
Enjoy this flashy competition as riders 17 and under compete at a fast “racking gait” speed!
FRIDAY
Pony Hunter Classic - 2nd Round (~4:30 pm)
Top ponies return to compete again in the “Bowl” over a more challenging course.
Scurry Races (~6:30 pm)
You’ll be on the edge of your seat watching this fast paced event as drivers and their carriages maneuver through a course of obstacles with tight turns while racing against the clock.
Box Seat Decoration Contest (Evening)
Enjoy a stroll as box seat holders showcase their creativity - from elegant to fun and whimsical themes, there is something delightful at every turn.
Gypsy Vanner Liberty Championship (Evening)
Watch these stunning horses run free in the ring - no riders, no reins - just flowing manes, tails, and feathered legs on full display!
SATURDAY
Germantown Grand Prix (~5:00 pm)
The $25,000 Grand Prix sponsored by the City of Germantown is an electrifying jumping competition for expert riders. Hooves will fly and hearts will race as you watch riders compete to win!
Big Hats and Bow Ties Competition (Saturday during Grand Prix Competition)
Come dressed to impress in your best Derby attire and show-off your style!
Stick Horse Race for Kids (Saturday following the Grand Prix)
Open to children 8 years old and under. Bring your own stick horse or buy one at Charity’s General Store. On site registration required at the Princess Tent ($5 entry fee).

Daily, shows begin at 7:30 a.m. and end around 10:00 p.m. Daytime admission is free, and admission for evening performances is only $5. Children three and under are free. Tuesday night, June 3, is free for everyone attending. The show grounds are at 7745 Poplar Pike.
