The Florida Artists Group, aka FLAG, has their 74th annual exhibition this year in Jacksonville, FL at Florida State College Jacksonville (FSCJ)- South Campus in the Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts from May 23, 2024 through Sun, July 28, 2024. The gallery is free and open to the public during normal gallery hours Mon-Thurs, 10 AM - 4 PM. This ART MAX JAX exhibition features artwork from sixty-six artist members of this premier artist organization.
Mr. Michael Rooks, Wieland Family Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the High Museum in Atlanta, GA, will be the juror and honored speaker for the event. His talk, "New Art, New Artists for the High Museum of Art Collection," will cover recent trends in contemporary art through a diverse lens. Presentations are open to the public on Sat, June 22, beginning at 10 AM at the Nathan H Wilson Center for the Arts on the FSCJ-South Campus, 11901 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32246.
With membership from across the State of Florida, FLAG meets annually around the state for a weekend symposium to hear presentations by noted arts professionals; including renown artists, curators, and museum directors, to network, and to discuss and celebrate visual arts. This year, FLAG members will meet in Jacksonville, Florida.
Established in 1949, the Florida Artists Group (FLAG) consists of artists whose work has attained national or state-wide recognition and is a premier professional-level artist organization that inspires, celebrates, and promotes the excellence of the state’s finest visual artists. FLAG President Margaret Schnebly Hodge expressed, “We are excited to be in Jacksonville which is known for its thriving contemporary art scene.” With its high bar for artistic excellence and focus on inclusivity, FLAG champions creative work of all visual disciplines.
