60 Years Later: The JFK Tragedy Revisited Through Film
Join the Mahwah Museum on Monday, November 13th, at 7:30pm to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Dr. John Gronbeck-Tedesco, an Associate Professor of American Studies at Ramapo College, will take a look back at both American history and memory. This program will use Oliver Stone's 2021 documentary, JFK Revisited, as the foundation to explore the complex ways that "truth" and "history" can generate both confusion and clarity. Due to JFK Revisited’s length- two hours- we request that participants view the film beforehand. It can be rented on Amazon Prime and is also available through the Mahwah Library interlibrary loan system.
John A. Gronbeck-Tedesco is Associate Professor of American Studies at Ramapo College of New Jersey. He is recently the author of the book Operation Pedro Pan: The Migration of Unaccompanied Children from Castro’s Cuba (Potomac Books). His writing has appeared in American Quarterly, Journal of Latin American Studies, as well as the online outlets Slate Magazine, Washington Post, Talking Points Memo, and a variety of others. He lives in New York City.
